What is it?
Hyaluronic acid is a molecule found naturally in the skin and connective tissue of the body. Depending on the area where it is found, it has different functions. In the case of the skin, it retains water and helps maintain hydration and volume. In other words, hyaluronic acid acts like a sponge, attracting and retaining large amounts of water.
What do we get with this treatment?
Facial fillers with injectable hyaluronic acid have become the treatment of choice for plumping or correcting lips, reducing wrinkles, lifting cheekbones or brightening the skin. Although it is the same molecule, the internal structure of hyaluronic acid that fills and adds volume is different from the one that moisturizes. Therefore, there are different types of acid, cross-linked and non-cross-linked, and of different densities. Low-density non-cross-linked acids are perfect for rehydrating and brightening the face, while higher-density cross-linked acids are used to fill in sunken areas and smooth wrinkles or expression lines.
